STORY

Removing the fan from this home ceiling was a need, considering I was planning to replace it with a flush mount light instead which by the way that video is also on the channel; I felt like the ceiling fan was too close to the wall and served no purpose in the location it was in.

Taking off the fan started with first understanding how the fan is assembled, as this will help you understand it’s individual parts; and then I proceeded with the removal of the blades as it most cases when working on a ceiling fan.

This particular ceiling fan was an older model, I knew so looking at the bracket and it’s overall design; learning how the disassemble worked became obvious as I was taking apart.

The removal of a ceiling fan is considered a handyman service, that it may at times not require an electrician; assuming you can follow instructions provided with the fan you should be ok.

Another way to start with removing a ceiling fan can be taking off the light bulbs first, and then the glass cover so you may have a better reach to the fan blades after; the whole idea is to remove the obvious parts out of the way first leaving you with the base alone.

Taking down the fan after you have disassemble most of it’s part will start with the cover flushed to the ceiling, there you will find a small screw set hold it against the base and taking that off will reveal the wiring; which at this point you may begin with disconnecting all the wire.

Once you have the electrical wires of the ceiling fan exposed, before disconnecting any cables in the effort to prevent electrical shock please first go to your electrical breaker box to turn off the switch for it; at this point once you have confirmed there is no power then go ahead with disconnecting the wires.
